Cisco & I were married in 2001, fresh out of the womb & fresh out of Bible College. We stayed on staff at that Bible College/Conference Center for the next 13 years (minus an 11 month move to New Jersey during that time). We had 4 kids in those 13 years and then we moved our family to Colorado to assist with a church plant. In 2018, after 5 (hard) years in Colorado, we moved to Northern California to my hometown and to be near my family. We were there a total of 5 months when the Camp Fire hit and we lost everything but the clothes on our backs.
Soon after, Covid hit and things were not working out for our family to remain in California. So, in 2020 we moved to Fort Worth, Texas. We had finally gotten back on our feet and then our world stopped.
On March 10, 2024, Cisco, who was extremely healthy & a young 44 years old, suffered a Cerebellar stroke on the right side of his brain/brain stem, that went undetected (even on brain scans) until the following day. The next 30 days were spent in the ICU where it was a complete roller coaster of events and emotions, not knowing if he would pull through or not. A brain hemorrhage, craniotomy, and a handful of other procedures later, he pulled through shocking everyone and continues to do so today. He is currently in outpatient rehab and on the long journey to recovery.
Our prayer as you read our heart & story is that you will see mainly 2 things – that God is in control of every aspect of our lives and that He is GOOD. Even when it doesn’t look good or feel good. And 2 – that you are not alone. I hope you walk away from each post feeling like you just had a really good cup of coffee with a friend. A friend that can inspire a little bit of hope when walking through the darkest of days.
